“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” – Albert Einstein
As a French teacher, I understand what it takes to truly speak and understands a language, having learned several foreign languages over the years, with mixed results.

- Starting in middle school, I took German. For seven. Long. Years. I remember almost none of those classes, except that I was very bored and uninspired.
- A couple of years later, I started learning English. Highly motivated to use it well, I went on to making it my major at the university.
- In the meantime, I also learned Latin and ancient Greek. Not very useful for daily discussions you might say, but quite helpful to make sense of long words.
- At the university, I took on Italian, which I thoroughly enjoyed but didn’t get a chance to practice much after graduation. Che peccato…
So you can guess I love languages, but you can also understand that after getting mixed results, I’ve figured out good teachers need to do more than teach their students for learning to happen, they need to inspire them.
I love the French language and I love teaching it. Here’s some background about my experience and skills:
- I was born, raised and educated in France, near Paris
- I have a Master’s degree in Teaching French and my Maryland state professional certification in French
- I have more than 10 years of experience teaching / tutoring French in a variety of environments and schools (pre-K, elementary, middle, high school and university students, as well as professional adults)
- I have been teaching students of all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced French) and all ages, from age 0 to 77 so far!
- I cater my lessons to my students’ specific levels, abilities, and learning preferences so they learn best
And most important of all, I have fun teaching French so my students have fun learning French too!
